Culvert Falls And A Sunny Afternoon

Something is forever falling from the sky of late. The sunny days are few and far between. It's been on again off again snow, usually proceeded by rain. This morning it rained pretty good. There was even thunder. My Culvert Falls began to flow.

It didn't rain that hard though. The rain and warm temperatures must have been enough to melt the glacier that forms during the deep cold on my neighbor's driveway across the scenic byway. His section of stream is half spring from blockage and it bubbles up through the driveway. It must have gotten pretty big during Siberolina. That melting glacier feeds directly into my culvert.

My soil is so well drained that the fall never gets very far. It disappears fast despite how moist the ground always is.

The rain was over by noon and the sun was attempting to come out. That was a sign for a little more chop and drop. I got the slope around the red pole done.

I had done a good portion of the slope below the scenic byway and the forested section yesterday. The chop and drop of the garden becoming is nearly done.

Leaving all the stalks and seed heads to stand is a good thing for the wild life, particularly the birds. All those seeds are a good food source. If I had a tiny garden I might let them stand longer. With two plus acres to go I am going to get chopping whenever the opportunity presents itself. The birds can still have the seeds. It's chop and drop not chop and haul.

Out there in the garden becoming a plethora of baby evergreens get a chance at some extra sun.

Something's happening here. A garden of interest for the barren time is growing.

There is a suggestion of snow for tonight. It has already clouded up and the wind has begun to blow cold. Tomorrow is calling for sun and fifty degrees. I'll probably light a fire and burn up some more rubbish piles. Then Monday it starts all over again. Rain, snow, rain, snow, snow, cold. The garden will get buried once more.

It's looking good Christopher. I use to have to rake leaves. Boy what a job. Then got a blower, that was easier. Weed eaters worked wonders.
